Do you enjoy the freshness of the early day, or prefer the warm light of evening? Whether early or late, the best time to make photographs is when the sun is low. All our tours are timed to catch the golden light. Each half-day tour lasts at least four hours and will be customized to give you a memorable experience. Full-day packages include both morning and afternoon tours for a total of eight or more hours. All of our tours are private, with single participants or small groups of no more than four persons.

Our tours start and end at our Printworks Gallery in Moab. These are not four-wheel adventure or hiking tours. All locations are reached via paved or graded roads, and although walks up to a mile or so may be involved, no extensive hiking is required. This is to allow the most time for actual photography and instruction.

Because we take the threat of Covid seriously, we offer the option for you to drive your own vehicle, following us to each destination spot. This will provide for social distancing and assure your comfort and convenience as you will have all of your equipment and other personal items with you. This also makes it possible for family members or others who are non-participating photographers to accompany you at no cost. To maintain communications and coordinate activities during travel, you will be provided with a hand-held CB radio. If you are comfortable with closer contact, you can ride with David in his Chrysler mini-van.

Half Day Tours

Our morning tours start when dawn begins to lighten the sky. We’ll go to a special place to catch the rising sun, whether in Arches or Canyonlands, or the glorious viewpoints at Dead Horse Point. Or you may choose to be in Castle Valley, at nearby Fisher Towers or even a pristine lake in the high mountains. We’ll visit other sites to document the coming day.

Afternoon tours are all about the anticipation of the Golden Hour. We’ll start about three or four hours before sunset to visit scenic viewpoints as the afternoon winds down. We’ll end up at a spectacular place to witness the sunset and watch night begin to creep across the land.

Half-day tours are priced at $345. Additional photographers will pay $195. Non photographers are welcome to accompany you in your vehicle. If they ride in our vehicles they will pay an additional $65 each. To assure a great experience, unless by special arrangement all tours are limited to a maximum of four photographers.

Full and Multi-Day Tours

For a total experience of the red rocks country, book a full-day tour. You’ll enjoy the best of both the morning and afternoon light, with a break in the middle of the day. Every tour is a private, custom-made exoeruence to suit your needs and instruction is always included as desired. Full-day tours are priced at $595. Additional photographers will pay $295 and non-photographers can ride with you at no cost, or pay $95 each if riding with us..

Or schedule two or more days to get an even broader experience of the area. Don’t worry, there’s plenty to see and photograph. When you book two full days you will earn a 10 percent discount for the package.

Night Sky Option

You may extend your half- or full-day tour to include a night sky experience, whether to photograph colorful sunsets, twilight silhouettes, the rising Moon or the glory of the Milky Way. This option adds about three hours to your experience. Add a night sky option for an additional $185 for the first photographer, $125 for additional photographers and $45 for non-photographers if riding with us.

Post Processing Instruction

When your photo tour ends you’ll have a memory card filled with new image files, but what next? If you’re not sure, take advantage of our free follow-up service on how to process your files. You’ll meet David or Mark at their studio/gallery on the following day or later in the week for up to an hour of one-on-one basic instruction in how to edit, enhance and print your pictures. We’ll help you evaluate your shoot, show you how to process RAW files, and apply some basic Photoshop tools to enhance and improve your images. There is no extra charge for this service.

If you want to dive deeper, sign up for our half-day post-processing workshop with Mark to learn even more about how to make your images special. He’s a master of Photoshop and will show you how to make your best pictures even better. You’ll learn how to use layers, masks, outlining, compositing techniques and many other tools to make creative effects. This private four-hour in-depth post-processing workshop is limited to one person and costs $295.
